A Tormented Soul has been a work in progress for a long time. Even though I’ve written short stories all my life — but this one is different. It is a mentally heavy story . It takes time to shape and strength to write — because I feel what my characters feel.
“Some people shape us. Others tear the ground from beneath our feet. And sometimes… they’re the same person.”
Jake returns to his sleepy hometown for a funeral—his brother’s. But ghosts don’t stay buried, and neither does the past.
Not the mentor who once meant everything. Not the best friend who ended everything. And not the guilt Jake has carried ever since. Once, Samuel was like a father to him. But something shattered that bond—a single night, a terrible choice, a silence that stretched into years.
Now, in the space of 24 hours, Jake is forced to face the people he left behind. His scarred sister. His fractured family. And the man who still haunts his dreams.
Was Samuel ever truly a monster? Or is the real monster something Jake brought with him?
A raw, psychological story about trauma, loyalty, and the terrifying beauty of facing the truth. Sometimes healing begins where denial ends.
About the Project
This is a story I’ve carried for years.
Through darkness, self-doubt, and healing, it has stayed with me — growing, shifting, waiting. I don’t know when it will be finished.
But I’ve decided to share fragments here — as part of reclaiming the joy of writing.
Why I Share It Now
I’m not here to prove anything.
I just want to hold space for this story to breathe — and maybe let others breathe with it.
This story has been brewing for years. If you’d like to add a little warmth to the process — you can buy me a hot chocolate. Thank you for being here.
